Mary started making patchwork quilts when her sister requested one for a birthday present in 1992. Before that fateful day, she had sewn everything from baby clothes to wedding dresses, but quilting captured her heart with its combination of practicality/artistic expression/ and connection to the traditional skills of American women.
Although her first quilts were made as gifts, for the past decade or so, Mary has been making them professionally, creating commission pieces for clients in the corporate sector and selling at regional art/craft galleries in America. Now living on Inis Oirr, smallest and most beautiful of the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland, Mary accepts orders for patchwork quilts of all sizes, colors, and styles. She is also developing a unique line of baby quilts featuring script stitching in Irish/English.
